A Sneak Peek at Wynn and Encore’s Upcoming Room Renovations

This blog only gets updated when I’m inspired/excited/erect. And oh my, this little nugget has got me bustin’ through my speedo.

Todd-Avery Lenahan, the man predominantly known to us as the genius behind Encore Las Vegas’s rooms and spa, has quietly taken over the role of our beloved Roger Thomas. Maybe they’ll officially announce it, maybe they won’t. Regardless, a keen eye can see that Lenahan is at the helm (just scope the new spa) and the future of Wynn Resorts is hot, hot, hot.

My dear friend John brought my attention to renovations at one of the oldest room products in Wynn’s repertoire, the suites at Encore Macau. No, it’s not Vegas, but you can bet this design language is coming to a Strip resort near you.

Bold, retro, a juxtaposition of countless textures. It’s Chinoiserie on steroids.

This is the kind of décor that inspires fantasy; I can just see myself sitting on that sofa underneath the koi triptych prepping for bed, impossibly drunk in my underwear, staring into space with only one sock on.

Bring on the renovations!

Roger Thomas designed the new spa at Wynn Las Vegas as well as the convention center. TAL is handling the guest rooms and Delilah as well as anything new. The new Mexican restaurant was designed by Alex Woogmaster and Adam Tihany (who designed the mandarin oriental/Waldorf Las Vegas) is handling the country club renovations. Robert AM Stern is also heavily involved in new projects. There was a press release about the transition last summer.

It’s certainly much more colorful than the present scheme. I’ll make a bet they’ll tone down the Asian flavor for Las Vegas, though. (I’ll also bet it’ll still be stunning.)
